Home Health Review Choice Demonstration: What You Need to Know

OCHCH, 1105 Schrock Road, Suite 140, Columbus, OH 43229

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) recently announced that home health providers in Ohio will be part of the new Home Health Review Choice Demonstration (HH RCD). The Demonstration will begin in Illinois some time after October 1, 2018, with implementation in Ohio to follow. Providers in the demonstration states will be offered an initial choice of three options - pre-claim review, postpayment review, or minimal postpayment review with a 25% payment reduction for all home health services.

During this workshop, representatives from the Illinois HomeCare & Hospice Council will share their experience with Pre-Claim Review and identify the differences between Pre-Claim Review and Review Choice Demonstration. Providers in Illinois were part of the Pre-Claim Review Demonstration for Home Health Services which ended on April 1, 2017. HH RCD has been revised to offer more flexibility and choice for providers, as well as risk-based changes to reward providers who show compliance with Medicare home health policies.

This workshop will help your agency prepare for the Home Health Review Choice Demonstration. Topics of discussion will include:

  • Identifying and differentiating between Pre-Claim Review and Review Choice Demonstration
  • Understanding face to face requirements
  • Understanding regulatory components of Medicare home health for compliance
  • Learning practical solutions for data gathering for submission, and
  • Understanding best practices for getting your staff on the same page.
