Celebrating Outstanding Caregivers

The Ohio Council for Home Care & Hospice awards program recognizes individuals and volunteers for their exemplary service and care in the home care and hospice industry.

You will find descriptions of each award below. Use the buttons or links to access the nomination form. Nominations are accepted throughout the year. To be considered for recognition at the Annual Conference & Trade Show awards ceremony, nominations must be received by Friday, August 30th.

Dorothy Royce Award

The Dorothy Royce Award is named in honor of the founding president of the Ohio Council for Home Care & Hospice. This award recognizes an individual that has worked hard to promote home care and hospice in Ohio through OCHCH and the community setting.

Award of Excellence

The Award of Excellence recognizes the licensed professional who is outstanding in his/her field. This nominee must have at least three years of experience in home care or hospice patient care (past or present position) and must be currently employed by a member agency. Nominations may include personnel currently in administrative or supervisory positions. This award recognizes two individuals – one in home care and one in hospice.

Caring Award

The Caring Award is an award presented to a caregiver who has exhibited outstanding courage and love to individual(s) in their care. The recipient of this award is neither an OCHCH member nor an employee of any member agency. Nominations for this award must come from an OCHCH Member and the patient must be either a past or current patient of an OCHCH member agency. This award recognizes two individuals – one in home care and one in hospice.

Homemaker / Aide of the Year Award

The Homemaker/Aide of the Year Award recognizes a special individual who is an outstanding, personable, caring and dedicated caregiver (home care and/or hospice). This nominee must be a homemaker/aide with at least three years of experience in giving in-home patient care and must be currently employed by a member agency. This award recognizes two individuals – one in home care and one in hospice.

Hospice Volunteer of the Year Award

First awarded in 2014, the Hospice Volunteer of the Year is presented to a volunteer who has exhibited outstanding dedication, service, compassionate care and love to hospice patients and their families. This individual goes out of their way to make the lives of hospice patients a little better, their days brighter and improves their quality of life. The recipient of this award is currently a volunteer at an OCHCH Provider Member.

Home Care and Hospice Hero Award

The Home Care and Hospice Hero Award recognizes a public official who has made a significant contribution to the improvement and advancement of home care and hospice, and their accessibility to the public. The recipient is nominated by members of the OCHCH Nomination Committee and must be a current or former public official, either elected, or in a regulatory capacity on the state, federal, or local level.
