Welcome to the Home Health Aide Training Program
Are you an agency owner/operator who wants to train your staff to meet the requirements for a home health aide? The OCHCH HHA Training Program provides you with the tools and resources your agency needs to efficiently train home health aides.
This program is designed for agencies and is not intended for independent providers, individuals, or self-employed providers.
Program Outline
Onboarding: The employing agency must complete the HHA Program onboarding form (below). Only one completed form is required per agency and will be applied to subsequent students entering the program.
Step 1: Complete the prerequisite 44.1 hours of online RCTC coursework. HHA students may not participate in the 16 hours of live instruction until they have completed all of the designated RCTC courses and passed the quizzes at the end of each course. Students are advised to either register for the HHA Live Training Session after coursework completion or select a date that allows for enough time to complete it.
RCTC online courses are available to OCHCH members at no extra cost! In addition to satisfying the prerequisites for HHA Training, this online training platform can be used for orientation and continuing education for team members, nurses, therapists, administrative, and leadership consistently and conveniently, 24/7, and can be started, stopped and resumed anytime. Starting a class is as simple as clicking on a course title. The HHA Onboarding Form below includes an option to request onboarding with RCTC or to refresh your course tokens if you are already in the system. If you have already onboarded, and only need to enroll in RCTC or replenish your course tokens, visit our Contact Us form and select the RCTC option.
Step 2: Register for an upcoming class on the HHA Live Session Calendar.
Courses are offered on a rotating bi-weekly schedule, alternating between weekday and weekend opportunities. Upcoming dates:
- Weekdays: January 7-8, February 11-12
- Weekends: December 28-29, January 25-26, February 22-23
Step 3: Complete the live, two-day, online HHA Live Training Session. Classes are held from 8 am to 5 pm on either Tuesday/Wednesday and Saturday/Sunday sessions, totally 16 hours of live instruction. Students must attend both days for the full 8 hours without distraction or interruption and must be on camera for the duration of the course. If a student cannot attend both days fully, back to back, they need to schedule for another class.
Step 4: Pass the written competency exam proctored by participating agency’s designated RN Trainer. Exam materials will be provided to participating agencies by OCHCH. It is the agency’s responsibility to proctor the exam following completion of the HHA class.
Step 5: Complete 16 hours of practical training supervised by the agency’s designated RN trainer, and return the demonstration of skills checklist to OCHCH.

Program Cost
The program is available to agencies at all scales – those that wish to train one or two individuals, or whole cohorts. The Council has created a model that takes volume into consideration, while retaining affordable pricing for agencies that have smaller teams in mind.
For agencies that have many aides to train, the best value can be found in the Home Health Aide Training Program Pass, priced at $2,000 annually per member organization. This pass covers:
- Ten (10) trainee registrations per year included in the price of the pass. A savings of $49 each ($490 total) compared to the regular member rate.
- Additional trainees after the initial ten register at preferred pricing of $175 each. This is 30% lower than the regular member rate of $249, and over 55% off the non-member, market rate of $399.
- If you plan to train more than eight aides in a year, the pass is the way to go
Pricing for OCHCH Members without an HHA Training Program Pass is $249 per registration. The program is not available for non-members.
