The Ohio Council for Home Care & Hospice is delighted to announce a $2 million Ohio Higher Education Grant awarded to the Center for Community Based Care to strengthen and grow Ohio’s home care nursing workforce!

The CCBC, with the participation of Ohio educators and care provider agencies, will leverage this grant to:
Pay for Nursing School. Eligible nursing students will have their education covered in exchange for a commitment to work in the home healthcare industry for 18 months following graduation.
Support Participating Agencies. Provider agencies that become a clinical rotation site for these students will receive financial compensation to support:
★ Extended hands-on training
★ Structured post-graduate mentorship
★ Longer, supported orientation periods
This support ensures new nurses are fully prepared and confident before practicing independently — improving job retention, patient outcomes, and workforce stability.
Who Can Participate?
This opportunity is available to member agencies of the Ohio Council for Home Care & Hospice. Participating agencies must:
- Employ BSN-prepared nurses for the clinical site rotation requirement as part of their schooling
- Provide mentorship and structured clinical education
- Support a comprehensive transition-to-practice experience
Why This Matters!
✔️ Builds a strong home healthcare pipeline
✔️ Reduces onboarding strain on agencies
✔️ Enhances quality of care through supported training
✔️ Strengthens Ohio’s community-based care system
