Celebrate National Caregivers Day

Today, Friday, February 20, we recognize National Caregivers Day — a time to honor the millions of individuals who provide essential care and support across our communities.

Established in 2015 to elevate awareness of caregivers’ often underrecognized role, this observance highlights both professional caregivers and the more than 63 million family caregivers nationwide who help sustain our healthcare system. Caregivers make it possible for individuals to remain at home, reducing strain on hospitals and facilities while improving quality of life.

As we celebrate caregivers, we also acknowledge the policy realities they face. Family caregivers often balance employment and caregiving responsibilities with limited support, while professional caregivers in home health, hospice, and home care navigate workforce shortages, reimbursement pressures, and increasing regulatory demands.

At the Ohio Council for Home Care & Hospice, we remain committed to advancing policies that strengthen the caregiver workforce, expand access to resources, and ensure sustainable reimbursement for care in the home.

Today, we thank caregivers for the critical role they play — and we reaffirm our commitment to supporting them not just in words, but through meaningful advocacy. 💙 #NationalCaregiversDay
