Get Involved with OCHCH

As the leading industry voice, OCHCH is advancing industry standards by providing home and community-based organizations with the advocacy, education, and regulatory support they need to ensure that individuals receive the highest level of dignity, care, and respect. In order to meet this mission, OCHCH needs volunteers like you! Throughout the year, we need input, insight, and time from our members on a variety of projects, programs, and activities. Members can volunteer by getting involved with one of our committees or participating at an advocacy event.

Education Committee

The Education Committee is dedicated to assisting Council staff in developing and promoting high-quality educational opportunities for Council members. Committee members will actively identify industry hot topics, connect with subject matter experts, and provide expertise needed to deliver meaningful Continuing Education Units (CEUs), Contact Hours, and professional development content. The Committee will provide clear feedback to Council staff on critical topics, emerging trends, and necessary changes to ensure that educational offerings remain relevant and impactful. As ambassadors, Committee members will engage with member agencies to ensure they are aware of, and register to attend, educational opportunities that provide practical education to empower agencies and professionals to grow and succeed in the evolving landscape of home and community-based care.

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee will work with Council staff to foster a thriving and engaged member community dedicated to advancing home and community-based care across Ohio. As proud ambassadors of the Council, we champion membership growth by facilitating introductions to new members and ensuring the satisfaction and retention of current members. To that end, Committee members will actively connect potential members with Council staff through warm handoffs and personal introductions. Member retention will be bolstered by integrating new members into the community through a structured mentorship program, providing consistent communication that helps them understand the full value of their investment, including resources, advocacy efforts, savings programs, and educational opportunities. Additionally, our Committee plays a vital role in helping Council staff organize and promote beneficial networking events in each region of Ohio. Through our outreach and engagement, we strive to build a united and informed membership that will grow for years to come.

Political Action Committee

The Political Action Committee (PAC) is dedicated to advocating at both the state and federal levels for policies that strengthen and protect home and community-based care. Committee members will develop and deploy strategic fundraising efforts, such as annual PAC golf outings. Funds raised support Council advocacy initiatives as well as legislative champions who share our commitment to advancing quality care for Ohio’s citizens. Our PAC plays a vital role in ensuring that the voice of home care and hospice providers is heard by policymakers, helping shape legislation that fosters growth, sustainability, and access to essential services. Committee members will encourage Council members and the community at large to get involved in advocacy efforts and make financial contributions, empowering the industry to influence meaningful policy change and secure a strong future for home and community-based care.

Legislative Committee

The Legislative Committee will guide the organization’s work advocating policies that enhance access to quality home and community-based care for the citizens of Ohio. With the aid of Committee members, the Council will work to shape legislation that strengthens Ohio agencies that provide essential home health, hospice, and personal care services. Through collaboration, education, and strategic advocacy, we strive to influence public policy that ensures sustainable, high-quality care in the home—promoting independence, dignity, and improved health outcomes for all Ohioans.

Rules & Regulatory Committee

The Rules & Regulatory Committee was formed to interpret, evaluate, and shape the regulatory landscape governing home and community-based care in Ohio, while delivering essential guidance to Council members. The Committee will actively engage with the Ohio Department of Aging and the Ohio Department of Medicaid to ensure that policies are both effective and practical, advocating for regulations that support quality care while minimizing unnecessary burdens on providers. Council staff and Committee members, utilizing feedback from our care provider member agencies, and collaboration with rule-makers, will provide critical insights into the impact of regulatory changes and influence policy development. For our member agencies, the Committee will provide education on compliance and best practices and equip them with the knowledge and perspective needed to navigate evolving regulations, ensuring sustainable, high-quality care for Ohio’s citizens.

CCBC Workforce Committee

The Center for Community Based Care Workforce Committee is dedicated to strengthening and sustaining the home and community-based care nursing workforce in Ohio. Committee members actively collaborate with colleges, universities, and technical schools to promote career opportunities, ensuring that the next generation of nurses is aware of and prepared for this critical field. Our committee is responsible for maintaining a strong online and social media presence to elevate awareness, engage future professionals, and showcase the impact of home-based care. We work closely with the Center’s board members, champions, and staff to develop effective messaging and educational initiatives, including the creation of a statewide nurse CE program for RNs and LPNs. Beyond recruitment, we focus on retention strategies to support and sustain the workforce, identifying solutions that enhance job satisfaction and long-term career growth within the industry. Through advocacy, education, and collaboration, we are committed to building a skilled, engaged, and resilient workforce that will shape the future of home and community-based care in Ohio.
