The winner of the 2024 Homemaker/Aide of the Year in Home Health is Amanda Burns, STNA, DoDD Waiver Home Health Aide, Ross County Home Health!

The Ohio Council for Home Care & Hospice awards program recognizes individuals for their exemplary service and care in the home care and hospice field. Additionally, OCHCH awards special recognition to allies in the legislature that support a patient’s right to receive care in the comfort of their home. Nominations for future awards can be submitted at this link.

The Homemaker/Aide of the Year Award recognizes a special individual who is an outstanding, personable, caring and dedicated caregiver (home care and/or hospice). This nominee must be a homemaker/aide with at least three years of experience in giving in-home patient care and must be currently employed by a member agency. One individual is recognized in Home Health, and one in Hospice.

Amanda has been a caregiver most of her adult life. Amanda completed her STNA certification through Pickaway Ross while in high school, graduating in 1997. Amanda wanted to pursue a career that meant she could help others. She chose the STNA program because her grandfather had heart problems and needed much care. Amanda was his primary caregiver and friend.

After completing her STNA certification Amanda worked in long term care for several years. After several years Amanda started working as a home health aide and has been working in this field ever since.

Amanda has a special needs daughter. Her daughter Victoria is her life, and she accompanied her today so she can witness Amanda receiving this special award. Amanda has recently obtained DODD certification. She obtained the certification at the request of one of her patients’ families.

In her spare time Amanda serves as the party planner for her daughter’s school and special Olympics. She enjoys puzzles, crafts, and baking. She is a member of the Ross County Rock Hunters and the Caring Hearts Club.
